a long way from anywhere, on a road going nowhere

A long, long way from anywhere, Amid a vast sea of grass and on a road going nowhere, sits the community of Hawker's Drift.

When Amos, an itinerant gunslinger, arrives in town he is immediately drawn to the newly widowed hard-drinking, foul-mouthed Molly McCrea and, despite his better judgement, he agrees to help her in a dispute with the town's mayor, and the unlikely couple find themselves inexorably pulled into the shadowy heart of a small town with a terrible secret.

A dark, engrossing fantasy woven around the disparate inhabitants of a remote town and their mysterious Mayor, a man always prepared to offer a lost soul their heart’s desire…

A grand saga filled with colourful characters, dark secrets and broken lives that builds remorselessly to a shattering conclusion as heroes and villains alike find themselves caught in a battle between two evils.

kind words

"Wonderful book full of interesting characters that jumped off the page. I could not put it down."

"If you enjoy writers like King and Koontz, then you will enjoy Monk. He writes very much like the young Steven King, gripping the reader in an intense drama and just when you think you have it all figured out, he throws that unexpected twist in."

"Highly recommend this series for anyone who loves a book you can't put down."

"What an excellent series this has been, part western and part science fantasy. Wonderful characters, both the good and the bad."

"I didn’t expect to enjoy a series about the old Wild West, but Andy Monk’s writing hooked me in, and I found myself fascinated. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every word. Thank you, Andy Monk - a masterpiece!"

Deleted Chapter

If you'd like to read a chapter deleted form the end of Hollow Places, the final hawker's Drift book, please hit the button below. It's only short, but I decided to cut it from the published version for reasons I'll explain in the following page. If you haven't read Hollow Places it probably isn't going to mean a great deal, and if you'd like to read the series at some point, I'd suggest leaving this until you do, as is it is a spoiler. If  you like to go back to Hawker's Drift one last time, please hit the button below...
